Dress rehearsal for “Rumors” at the University Venue… otherwise known as “first run-thru” for the crew of two. That’s right: The director insisted on having audience members for a free preview night on the VERY FIRST run through we’ve had for the show. The actors of course complained about the 4 audio errors (out of 60 total cues) and one light error (out of 30 cues). The director and her husband were very gracious, but I swear: A theater company based off of a talent agency/school is just asking for issue. At least the actors remembered 75% of their lines, which is better than expected.
To be fair, the people who run it are very nice, if not expecting one person to do ALL of the technical aspects. They are very keen on doing a local theater company, but they are television casting directors and are just learning that there is a lot more to this, including budgeting and setting production times for live theater.
